Monitor OpenAlex papers with Relaylit

Free, open replacement for Microsoft Academic Graph with 250M+ works across every discipline.

What OpenAlex covers

OpenAlex is an open index of the scholarly record, launched by OurResearch in 2022 as a successor to the discontinued Microsoft Academic Graph. It covers more than 250 million works, 90+ million authors, 120,000 venues, and full citation and concept graphs — all free, open, and under CC0 license.

OpenAlex fills the gaps. Where PubMed misses engineering journals and arXiv misses peer-reviewed humanities, OpenAlex has it. Relaylit uses OpenAlex to broaden every digest beyond single-discipline databases.

How Relaylit uses OpenAlex

Relaylit wraps the OpenAlex API into a brief-driven query, merges with five other sources, deduplicates by DOI, and ranks the result set 0–100 before emailing.

OpenAlex does not ship a native alert tool. vs Relaylit

OpenAlex does not ship a native alert tool.

OpenAlex is an API-first project. End-users typically access it via third-party tools; it has no email alert system of its own.

FAQ

Is OpenAlex data reliable?

OpenAlex reuses Crossref, PubMed, ORCID, and DataCite as upstream sources, plus its own entity resolution. For most disciplines it matches or exceeds commercial indexes like Dimensions or Scopus on coverage.

Can I track a specific author across disciplines?

Yes. Mention the author in your brief — OpenAlex's author IDs allow Relaylit to disambiguate and return all works regardless of venue.
